Fourteen detained after Ankara car bomb kills 28

Fourteen people have been arrested after a car bomb in the Turkish capital Ankara killed at least 28 people and injured 61 on Wednesday.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said members of the Syria Kurdish YPG rebel group were responsible for the attack near a barracks.

At least six more people were killed after a military convoy was hit by an explosion the following morning.

Death toll in Ankara blast rises to 18 with 45 injured

The death toll of a car bomb blast in Ankara, Turkey, has rised to 18 with another 45 people injured, an Interior Ministry official has said.

A vehicle packed with explosives detonated near government and military buildings in the centre of the capital city, while buses carrying military personnel were stopped at traffic lights.

A Turkish security official has said initial signs indicate the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was behind the attack.

However, security sources in the mainly Kurdish south-east of the country said they believed militants from the so-called Islamic State were to blame.
