Russia denies 'war crime' claim after fatal hospital airstrikes

The Kremlin has rejected claims that Russia has committed a 'war crime' stating accusations it was behind the bombing of a hospital in Syria are "unfounded".

It comes after Turkey accused Russia of an "obvious war crime" yesterday after almost 50 civilians were thought to have been killed in missile attacks in northern Syria.

The attacks took place in the Idlib province and Azaz near the Turkish border.

Syrian ambassador accuses US of deadly airstrikes

Deadly air strikes on a hospital operated by medical charity Medicens Sans Frontieres in Syria were carried out by US planes, the Syrian ambassador to Russia has said.

"It was destroyed by the American Air Force. The Russian Air Force has nothing to do it with," said Ambassador Riad Haddad told Rossiya 24 television.

Haddad also said Damascus hoped peace talks would resume on Feb. 25 but accused Turkey of interfering in the country to support so-called Islamic State militants.

Contrary to Mr Haddad's accusation, MSF France's President has said the bombing was likely to have been carried out by Syrian government forces or Russia.
