Greek riot police clashed with protesters on Sunday as they fired tear gas at crowds who had gathered in Kos to rally against a new so-called migrant 'hotspot' on the island.

The clashes came as locals voiced their anger at proposals to build a refugee and migrant processing centre, at the request of the EU, on the site of an abandoned army base on the Aegean island.
