Turkish police arrest two over 'New Year attack plot'
Police in Turkey have detained two people in Ankara on suspicion of plotting a suicide attack on New Year's Eve, a senior government official has said.
The official said the pair - believed to be members of the so-called Islamic State militant group - are being questioned over an alleged plan to attack Kizilay square in the centre of the city.
The state-run Anadolu Agency, quoting the Ankara chief prosecutors' office, said police had seized two suicide vests armed with bombs.
Kizilay square is a popular spot for revellers to ring in the New Year.
