Homes evacuated as river bursts its banks after heavy rain causes flooding in Scotland

Scores of homes have been evacuated in Aberdeenshire after the River Don burst its banks and the River Ythan threatened to overflow, while people in an area of Aberdeen were advised to leave their properties.

Roads have been closed and trains and flights cancelled in Aberdeen and across the surrounding region as water levels reached record highs.

York floods: Tadcaster bridge partially collapses

Tadcaster Bridge in North Yorkshire has partially collapsed following huge floods in the region.

The bridge has reportedly been closed since the 27 December, over fears that the torrent of floodwater had damaged the structure.
