British astronaut Tim Peake boards International Space Station

British astronaut Tim Peake and two colleagues have been welcomed aboard the International Space Station after a six-hour journey from Kazakhstan.

No Brit has undertaken such a mission - or even left Earth - in more than two decades.

Mr Peake will be onboard the ISS for six months.

MPs sing David Bowie's Space Oddity in Commons

MPs had to be ordered to stop singing David Bowie's Space Oddity in the House of Commons after news of the successful launch of the Soyuz space capsule carrying British astronaut Major Tim Peake.

Business minister Anna Soubry was forced to calm Labour MPs who sang the Bowie classic as she spoke of the "great news" .
