Weather: Wind and rain with severe gales in Scotland

It will be a dry and bright start across most areas. However, some rain, heavy at times, will move quickly across northern and western areas.

It will then push southeastwards into northern and western England and Wales by early evening, accompanied by squally winds.

The winds will strengthen with gales in the north and west, and later severe gales and storm force winds into western and northern Scotland, as Storm Abigail approaches.

Towards the southeast it should remain largely fine until the evening, and it will be another mild day with highs around 16C (61F).
