Nearly 10,000 Brits flown home from Sharm el-Sheikh

Nearly 10,000 people have been flown back to the UK from Sharm el-Sheikh following the Russian jet crash.

The Department for Transport said more than 9,600 had been brought home since Friday.

Around 20,000 Britons were at the Egyptian resort when flights were suspended over security fears.

Sharm el-Sheikh airport chief replaced

The head of Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh airport has been replaced amid growing concern that the Russian plane which crashed soon after leaving the Red Sea resort the airport was downed by a bomb.

Adel Mahgoub, chairman of the state company that runs Egypt's civilian airports, said Abdel-Wahab Ali had been "promoted" to become his assistant and that the move had nothing to do with media scepticism surrounding the airport's security.

Mr Mahgoub said Mr Ali was being replaced by Emad el-Balasi, a pilot.
