PKK car bomb kills two Turkish police officers
A car bomb was detonated near a police checkpoint in south-east Turkey by Kurdish militants, killing two officers and injuring five others, security forces have said.
Officials believe the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) was behind the attack, which claimed the latest casualties in the region's worst period of violence in more than 20 years.
More than 100 police officers and soldiers have been killed since a ceasefire collapsed in July.
Turkish forces based in Sirnak province responded by shelling a mountainous area nearby, where the fighters had fled after the bomb went off.
Two militants were killed in the operation, which was suppported by Cobra attack helicopters.
