'Jihadi John' on government 'kill list' of British IS fighters

Further drone strikes against Islamic State militants plotting to attack the UK could be launched within weeks, the Defence Secretary has said.

Michael Fallon said the Government would "not hesitate" to repeat the action that led to Britons being killed by an RAF drone in the Islamic State stronghold of Raqqa last month.

ITV News understands there are at least five people on a government 'kill list'. One is that of Mohammed Emwazi - the man known as 'Jihadi John' who has been filmed beheading Islamic State hostages.

PM 'could face legal challenge' over Syria drone strike

David Cameron has been warned that he could face a legal challenge to the targeted killing of a suspected British terrorist in Syria.

Speaking to ITV News, Conservative MP and former Attorney General Dominic Grieve said the decision to kill IS militant Reyaad Khan in an act of "self defence" could be legally justified if there was a provable risk to the public.

However, Grieve added that the strike - which also killed another British terrorist, Ruhul Amin - could be looked at by the independent terrorism reviewer or challenged in the courts on human rights grounds.

"Whether that legal challenge succeeds or how far it gets... is a different issue," he added.

The comments came as fellow Conservative MP David Davis called for checks on what he said otherwise amounted to "extra-judicial execution".
