PM urges EU nations to fund refugee camps around Syria

David Cameron has visited camps in Lebanon and Jordan to meet Syrian refugees who have fled their country's civil war.

The Prime Minister has called on other EU countries to "step up to the plate" and follow Britain's lead by funding refugee camps around Syria.

Mr Cameron said there was a "direct connection" between shortfalls in aid for camps in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey and the influx of migrants into Europe.

Hungary: Young refugee family lay on tracks in protest

A man and woman with a small baby have thrown themselves onto the track at a Hungarian train station urging authorities not to take them to a migrant camp.

The young family were protesting at a station in Bickse, a short distance from Budapest, where more than 100 refugees had been taken off a train and surrounded by police, ITV News Europe Editor James Mates reports.

The town is believed to be near a migrant reception centre, and some of those taken off the train could be heard shouting "no camp" while banging on carriage windows.

However, police told Mates that those taken from the train will not be going to camps and were subsequently forced to let many back onto train.

The train left Budapest this morning amid chaos at the city's main international station.

Many of those onboard had boarded despite being unclear where the train was going, after Hungary suspended trains from the city to western Europe.
