'Two stabbed and officer shot' in Louisiana

Two people were stabbed and the police officer who responded to the call was shot in an attack in Louisiana, local media reports.

The suspect then drove to a nearby Exxon gas station mini mart, where he holed himself up in an office. Three people who were in the store at the time escaped.

A police negotiator and the suspect's brother have been trying to talk him out, and tear gas has been deployed, The Advocate newspaper reported.

Earlier reports suggested eight people were being held hostage, but police later confirmed that was not the case.
