A small explosive was thrown from a Bangkok bridge on Tuesday amid heightened tensions in the Thai capital after Monday's bombing.
The device, which local media said was a grenade, was thrown by a man from a bridge into a canal at around 1pm local time.
No one was injured in the incident.
Colonel Natakit Siriwongtawan, deputy police chief of Klongsan district, said: "If it did not fall in the water then it certainly would have caused injuries."
