UK to spend £7m on improving Eurotunnel security

The Home Secretary Theresa May has said that the UK Government will spend up to £7 million on improving security around the entrance to the Eurotunnel.

She made the announcement as Eurotunnel said that around 2,000 migrants had tried to storm its French terminal last night and called on the Government to act.

"We have agreed today that we will work together [with the French government] to return migrants, particularly to West Africa, to ensure that people see that making this journey does not lead to them coming to Europe and being able to settle in Europe," she said.
