The male teacher, 50, who suffered a single stab wound to the stomach, is in a stable condition in hospital.
"We have just arrested a 14-year-old male in connection with this offence and he is currently in custody on suspicion of attempted murder," Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson, of West Yorkshire Police, told reporters.
The suspect was arrested in Bradford City Centre.
He said the stabbing took place in a science classroom at Dixons Kings Academy, adding that specially-trained officers will now be speaking to pupils who witnessed the incident.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
