MPs head to US to fight for Shaker Aamer's release

David Davis is at the head of a small delegation of MPs heading to the US to argue for the release of Shaker Aamer, the last British detainee at America's infamous Guantanamo Bay.

"Guantanamo itself is not a good symbol for the West," said Davis, the MP for Haltemprice and Howden. "We're the good guys in this argument - the ones who believe in democracy and freedom."

"None of these are really advanced by the symbol of Guantanamo."
