Baby dies after car crashes into wall and tree

A baby has died and four adults injured when a car smashed into a wall and a tree in Birmingham.

The youngster was in the car when the crash happened in the Selly Oak area shortly before 4pm. Paramedics performed CPR en-route to Birmingham Children's Hospital, but the child was confirmed dead on arrival.

The female driver suffered a head injury, while one of the back seat passengers - both of whom were women - suffered a head injury, a back and chest injury, and the other complained of back pain.

The front seat passenger, also a woman, made her own way to hospital with minor injuries after managing to climb out of the car herself.
