British national living overseas killed in Nepal quake

A British national living overseas has been killed in the Nepal earthquake, Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has confirmed.

The Briton is among more than 5,000 people killed after Saturday's devastating 7.8-magnitude quake.

Speaking after chairing a Cobra meeting, Mr Hammond said the reported death of another British national at the Everest Base Camp was also being investigated.

I do have to sadly confirm the death of one dual British national who is a resident in Hong Kong.

We are urgently investigating reports of a further British national apparently killed at the Everest Base Camp.

– Philip Hammond
