Party leaders back on the campaign trail after debate

Most of the main party leaders are back out on the campaign trail today after the ITV leaders' debate. All seven party leaders went head-to-head for the first and only time this general election last night, clashing over issues such as the economy, the NHS and immigration.

ITV News poll: Farage voted as best - and worst - in debate

Ukip leader Nigel Farage is winning the leaders' debate so far, according to an ITV News poll at half-time.

The poll, completed by ComRes, asked 615 people their views - and found that as well as being voted the best, he was also voted as performing the worst.

The best performers were voted to be:

  • Nigel Farage, Ukip - 24%
  • Ed Miliband, Labour - 21%
  • David Cameron, Conservative - 19%
  • Nicola Sturgeon, SNP - 18%
  • Nick Clegg, Lib Dems - 10%
  • Natalie Bennett, Green Party - 7%
  • Leanne Wood, Plaid Cymru - 2%

When asked who the worst performer was, the votes were:

  • Nigel Farage, Ukip - 22%
  • Natalie Bennett, Green Party - 21%
  • Leanne Wood, Plaid Cymru - 18%
  • David Cameron, Conservative - 17%
  • Ed Miliband, Labour - 10%
  • Nick Clegg, Lib Dems - 7%
  • Nicola Sturgeon, SNP - 6%
