Whitney Houston's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, has been taken off the ventilator which has helped her breathe since she was found collapsed in a bathtub at home last month.
The 21-year-old was rushed to hospital where she is fighting for her life after being found by her partner and a friend.
Singer Bobby Brown has asked for privacy after his daughter with Whitney Houston was found unresponsive in a bathtub at the weekend.
In a statement, he said: "Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."
Spokesman for the family Christopher Brown confirmed Bobbi Kristina Brown, 21, was brought to an Atlanta hospital and that her father was by her bedside but said that "no additional information will be forthcoming."
The incident echoes her mother's death three years ago.
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
