Duke and Duchess of Cambridge say goodbye to New York

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on their way back to the UK after an action-packed visit to the United States.

The pair attended a gala dinner for their former university, St Andrews, last night in New York.

The Duchess has told how she was moved after visiting the memorial to victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks during their visit.

William and Kate paid their respects to the victims by laying a bouquet of white roses - the state flower of New York - on a bronze panel lining one of the pools that was embossed with the names of the dead.

William tells Obama: 'I forgot to ask whether George was a boy or girl'

Prince William and Obama have been chatting about being dads as they met at the Oval Office during the Royal visit of America.

The Duke of Cambridge told the US President that he got so caught up in the excitement when George was born that he "forgot" to ask whether he was a boy or girl.

....what a surprise.

And last time, I remember when George was born, I forgot to work out whether it was a boy or a girl. The excitement of the event and everything else was just chaos. You are suddenly... well actually it's a boy. So now, it's good

It's going to be interesting next year. A busy year next year.
