Oldham deny offering Ched Evans invitation to train with club
League One club Oldham Athletic have denied newspaper reports claiming they were ready to offer convicted rapist Ched Evans the chance to train with them.
Former Sheffield United striker Evans is searching for a new club after being released from prison after serving two-and-a-half years for raping a 19-year-old.
An Oldham statement read: "The Board of Directors would like to confirm that we will not be extending an invitation for Ched Evans to train with Oldham Athletic nor will we be offering him a contract.
"The club will not be making any further comment on this subject."
