David Cameron chairs Cobra meeting on IS threat

David Cameron was briefed today about the ongoing hunt for Islamic State (IS) militants responsible for the murders of Western hostages.

The Prime Minister chaired a session of the Government's Cobra committee where he was updated by intelligence chiefs about their progress in trying to track down militants responsible for killing westerners including US hostage Peter Kassig.

French authorities identify 'at least one' Frenchman in terror video

The Paris prosecutor has identified "at least one Frenchman" among the militants in the latest execution video from Islamic State, according the the Associated Press.

France's top security official has said a Frenchman suspected of joining Islamic State fighters is believed to be among the killers in the video.

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said there is a "strong presumption" that Maxime Hauchard is among the group.

He said authorities are analysing the video and have been investigating Hauchard, who is about 22 years old and from west of Paris.
