Ukip to propose income tax cut to 35p

Ukip will today unveil proposals to help take millions of people out of the 40p rate of income tax.

According to the Daily Mail, the party wants people earning between £42,000 and £55,000 to pay 35p in the pound.

Leader Nigel Farage told Good Morning Britain it was unfair that middle-class professionals such as nurses had been sucked into the higher rate.

Mr Farage is reportedly also set to back the Liberal Democrats' idea of raising the starting rate of income tax to £13,500 to help low-income workers.
