Three top Hamas commanders killed in Israeli strike

Three senior Hamas military commanders have been killed in Israeli air strike in the Gaza Strip, the Islamist militant group said.

Hamas named the men as Mohammed Abu Shammala, Raed al-Attar and Mohammed Barhoum and said they were killed in a bombing of a house in the southern town of Rafah.

Unicef: A quarter of Gaza's population displaced

Unicef said a quarter of Gaza's population has now been displaced by the ongoing violence between the Israeli military and Hamas militants.

Gaza officials say at least 1,509 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed and 7,000 wounded.

Sixty-three Israeli soldiers have been killed and more than 400 hurt. Three civilians have been killed by Palestinian rockets in Israel.
