Up to 8 million tune in as Commonwealth Games closes

The curtain has come down on an incredible 11 days of Commonwealth Games sporting action in a glittering, star-filled closing ceremony at Glasgow's Hampden Park.

England has topped the medal table of the Commonwealth Games with a total of 174 medals.

Up to 8 million viewers tuned in to see Kylie and a host of other stars close Glasgow 2014, which has been dubbed the "best ever" Commonwealth Games.

Gemili to use Commonwealth success as springboard

Adam Gemili has told ITV News he hopes to use his Commonwealth silver medal as a springboard to challenge the Jamaican and American sprinters at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

"The Jamaicans and the Americans have always been levels ahead of everyone and I think they still are.... but we are getting there eventually," the 100m silver-medallist said.

The 20-year-old admitted he was "overwhelmed by emotion" at winning his first major senior medal of his career in front of a raucous crowd at Hampden Park.
