Islamic State leader calls for jihad in audio message

The leader of the Islamic State, formerly Isis, has released the first audiotape calling for jihad since the group renamed. The group is currently battling Iraqi forces across large parts of the country.

Iraq's territories 'redrawn' as sectarian battles rage

The US-based Institute of War have released a map showing how the borders of regions inside Iraq have become porous as a result of the ISIS insurgency in the North.

The Kurds have taken advantage of the situation to extend their territory beyond their previous borders, whilst Isis fighters and the Iraqi military continue to battle north of Baghdad over control of Iraq's biggest oil refinery.
