Thomas Muller hat-trick helps Germany thrash Portugal

Thomas Muller scored a hat-trick as Germany produced a stunning display to crush Portugal 4-0 in their opening World Cup match.

The three-time World Champions took the lead through Muller's penalty.

Mats Hummel's header made it 2-0, before Portuguese defender Pepe was sent off for headbutting Muller in the first-half.

The Bayern Munich forward grabbed a second and completed his hat-trick after tapping in Andre Schurrle's cross.

USA and Ghana, the remaining sides in Group G, meet in the Estadio das Dunas later tonight.
