Sir Paul McCartney will resume his tour, postponed due to ill health, in July in the United States, his spokesman has confirmed to ITV News.

The spokesman said the 71-year old - who turns 72 next week - was "fine" and "the tour resumes in July."

The former Beatle was taken ill in Tokyo where he spent almost a week in hospital and was forced to cancel his Japan leg of the tour along with a show in South Korea.

He was due to start his US tour in Lubbock Texas on June 14 but said in a statement that on doctors advice he was resting a little longer.
