Sisi claims 97% of votes in Egyptian election
Former Egyptian army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi secured a landslide victory in the country's presidential vote last week, the election commission said today.
Sisi claimed 96.91% of the the 54 million votes cast.
Turnout was about 47%, the commission said - less than the 40 million votes, or 80% of the electorate, that Sisi had called for.
