'Dust rain' carrying Saharan desert deposits to Britain

'Dust rain' was last night reported in the West Country and this morning some awoke to red-colour dust deposits on cars. This is actually Saharan dust.

The recently established southerly airflow has carried the dust particles all the way from the deserts of North Africa.

The particles stay airborne before being deposited during showers. More dust rain is possible in the next 24 hours as showers continue to drift in from the south.
