The booze-loving pet camel fed on beer

Jeffrey the pet camel has an unusual favourite treat: a pint of beer.

The booze-loving bactrian regularly downs bottles of lager including Budweiser and Coors shipped in from the local pub.

Jeffrey, who requires a wild animal licence, may be Britain's only pet camel - most camels in the UK are kept as part of commercial or tourist ventures.

Owner Simon Grant told the Yorkshire Post: “I read that camels like beer so I thought I’d see if Jeffrey did and he loves it."

He said that the local pub send up some beer to be mixed in with Jeffrey's feed.
