Terror trial date set for former Guantanamo Bay inmate

Former Guantanamo Bay inmate Moazzam Begg has appeared via videolink at London's Old Bailey on terrorism charges relating to the Syrian civil war.

Begg, 45, of Birmingham, spoke only to confirm his name as he appeared from Belmarsh prison in south-east London, wearing a dark jumper and trousers.

Mr Justice Sweeney set a provisional trial date at the Old Bailey for October 6 after a plea hearing takes place on July 18.

Begg denies providing terrorist training and funding terrorism overseas.
