Princess Diana 'leaked royal phone book to NotW'

Princess Diana leaked information about the Prince of Wales to "an ally" in the press in order to "take on" her estranged husband, former News of the World reporter Clive Goodman told the phone hacking trial.

Brooks denies all knowledge of phone-hacking in court

Rebekah Brooks denied she had ever heard about phone-hacking at the News of the World, or the illegal activities of private investigator Glenn Mulcaire.

In court today said she had never heard his name mentioned in her presence.

Her defence barrister asked the former editor whether she had any suspicions about any of his activities. Brooks said:

"We did have private investigators working on the News of the World, not just the News of the World, across Fleet Street, on lots of stories. Law firms and solicitors used them more than journalists."

Mr Laidlaw pressed: "Was any involvement in phone hacking ever drawn to your attention?"

Brooks again replied: "No, not at all."
