It’s Raining Men storms charts after councillor's remarks
The 1980s chart hit 'It's Raining Men' is set to return to the top 20 this weekend on the back of a protest campaign against former Ukip councillor David Silvester’s controversial remarks.
The Weather Girls’ song saw a surge in sales after fans mobilised in response to Silvester’s claims that the legalisation of gay marriage was to blame for recent floods.
Figures from the Official Charts Company show the song is already at Number 21 in the singles chart and is expected to rise before the top 20 are announced on Sunday.
UKIP has suspended Mr Silvester after he suggested the country had been "beset by storms" since David Cameron passed the new law on gay marriage.
