Ukrainian president 'set to return after sick leave'

Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovich is set to return to work on Monday after a period of sick leave, a statement on the presidential website said. Thousands of anti-government protesters have gathered in central Kiev to demand his resignation.

Ukraine's far-right practice drills in central Kiev

Members of Ukraine's far-right group - whose name translates as Right Sector - have been "training" in Independence Square in central Kiev.

The group has been a prominent albeit minor faction amid the many anti-government protesters on the streets of Kiev in recent weeks.

Some were clad in makeshift body armour made from what appeared to be lengths of pipe as well as shin guards more commonly worn by ice hockey players.

Some also carried handfuls of rocks and what appeared to be metal rods as they rehearsed drills in the open air.
