The United Nations has withdrawn its invitation to Iran to attend this week's Syria peace talks after the Syrian political opposition threatened to pull out. The UN said Iran did not believe in its goal of establishing a transitional governing body.
Syria's political opposition said on Monday it will withdraw its attendance at international peace talks scheduled this week unless United Nations Chief Ban Ki-moon retracts an invitation to Iran, President Bashar al-Assad's main backer.
Posting on Twitter, the Syrian Coalition said:
