Thousands evacuated after El Salvador volcano erupts
Thousands of people have been evacuated in El Salvador after a volcano erupted near the city of San Miguel.
Residents near the Chaparrastique volcano said they heard an explosion before it began spewing a cloud of smoke and hot ash yesterday.
El Salvador's Red Cross says evacuations have been ordered for inhabitants living within about three kilometres (two miles) of the 2,129-metre (7,025-foot) volcano.
