Police appeal for information in hunt for 'gunman'

West Yorkshire police have warned the public not to approach a suspected gunman wanted in connection with the shooting of a female police officer, but to call if they have any information regarding his whereabouts.

James Leslie, 37, allegedly opened fire on two police officers when they were called to an address in Leeds following reports of a disturbance.

Assistant Chief Constable Geoff Dodd said:

West Yorkshire Police are appealing to Mr Leslie to hand himself in as soon as possible.

The Police are actively seeking Mr Leslie and the public should be reassured that every effort is being made to safely locate him.

Additional patrols will be seen in the area.

The public should not approach Mr Leslie but ring 999, if they see him or know where he may be.
