Severed arm 'of man' found in field by walker
A severed arm has been discovered in a field near the Dublin village of Clonee, sparking a major police investigation.
A walker made the grim discovery on Friday night and raised the alarm. Local gardaí responded and continued to search the field this morning for clues, a gardaí spokesman confirmed.
The full arm is believed to belong to a man and detectives are studying missing persons reports in an effort to confirm who the body part belongs to.
“We’ll obviously be looking for any more remains at the scene or to see if there’s any evidence," one gardaí source told The Irish Times. "Maybe that the arm was severed from a live person at the scene or part of a dead body hacked up."
