Terror suspect given UK asylum

Theresa May is to be questioned over why Al-Qaeda terror suspect Anas al-Libi, who captured by US special forces this weekend, was given asylum in Britain. The 49-year-old is accused of involvement in the American embassy bombings in east Africa.

US Navy Seal raid in Somalia 'did not get target'

A raid by US special forces in Somalia to capture a suspected al Qaida leader linked to last month's Nairobi shopping centre attack has been aborted after a fierce firefight.

A US Navy Seal team swam ashore near a town in southern Somalia before militants of the al Qaida-linked terrorist group al-Shabaab rose for prayers, US and Somali officials told The Associated Press.

A raid on a house in the town of Barawe failed to get its target, one current and one former US military official told The Associated Press.

The Pentagon confirmed that US military personnel had been involved in a counter-terrorism operation against a known al-Shabab terrorist in Somalia.
