A mosque used as a makeshift morgue following bloody street clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted president Mohammed Morsi has become the latest battleground in Egypt's unending violence.

The Muslim Brotherhood had urged protesters to converge inside al-Fath mosque near Ramses Square in Cairo, which was the scene of yesterday's deadly violence.

As well as a morgue, the sacred building was also being used as a field hospital.
