Egypt overnight curfew will last for a month

The overnight curfew imposed by the Egyptian government on Cairo and 10 other provinces will last for the next month - or until further notice.

The curfew will run from 7pm until 6am in 11 of Egypt's 27 provinces, including the capital, Alexandria and Suez, according to a government statement.

"Whoever violates these orders will be punished with imprisonment," the government said in a statement.
