Death toll in Egypt rises to 278 after day of violence

The death toll in Egypt has risen to 278, the health ministry said, after a day of violence between security forces and supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi.

Some 235 of those killed were civilians and 2,001 people have been wounded.
