The former newspaper tycoon Eddy Shah has said that underage girls who engage in consensual sex must "take the blame" for the abuse they suffer, in his first interview since he was cleared of raping a teenager in the 1990s.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5Live, Mr Shah said that historically "rape was a technical thing - below a certain age."

"But these girls were going out with pop groups and becoming groupies and throwing themselves at them," he added.
