Jack White denies wife's claims after restraining order

American musician Jack White has denied threatening his estranged wife, British singer and model Karen Elson, after she secured a temporary restraining order against him.

Ms Elson said White had threatened her in emails and left her fearing for her and their children's safety in divorce papers.

White, who rose to fame as one half of the White Stripes, filed court papers refuting his wife's claims, the Associated Press has reported.

"The reason for filing this response is that Mr. White does not want to be portrayed as something he is not, violent to his wife or children," the rock star's lawyer wrote.
