Man 'spying for Turkey' arrested in Greece
A 72-year old German man has been arrested on a Greek island on suspicion of spying for Turkey, police have told Reuters.
The man told police he had photographed military barracks on the island of Chios for a group of people he believed were Turkish nationals.
They paid him up to 1,500 euros (£1,300) for each assignment, he told police. He was arrested on Friday and will appear before a prosecutor to face espionage charges.
Turkey and Greece have a long history of fraught relations and the two countries have come to the brink of war on several occasions, although relations have warmed in recent years.
