BBC foreign news correspondent Jon Leyne dies
BBC foreign news correspondent Jon Leyne has died of a brain tumour at the age of 55, the broadcasting corporation has reported.
Leyne was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor earlier this year after returning to the UK from Cairo to seek treatment for severe headaches.
The veteran journalist had covered wars and unrest in many regions over the past three decades, including in recent years, the Libyan uprising and Egyptian revolution.
Acting Director of BBC News, Fran Unsworth said: "Jon was a brave and courageous journalist in the best traditions of the BBC. He had an insatiable curiosity and told complex stories in an engaging and accessible way."
