Federal prosecutors are considering whether to bring further charges against George Zimmerman after he was acquitted of the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin.
"Experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation of any of the limited federal criminal civil rights statutes within our jurisdiction," a Justice Department spokesman said in a statement.
"And whether federal prosecution is appropriate in accordance with the department's policy governing successive federal prosecution following a state trial."
The Democratic presidential candidate may also have shown his cards on his choice of running mate.
