Man bailed over Queen picture

An electrician has reportedly been bailed after appearing at Westminster Magistrates Court charged with defacing a portrait of the Queen in Westminster Abbey. Tim Haries from Doncaster was charged with with criminal damage over £5000.

Criminal damage charge after Queen's portrait defaced

A man has been charged with criminal damage after this portrait of the Queen in Westminster Abbey was defaced with paint.

Tim Haries, 41, from Doncaster in South Yorkshire, will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court today charged with criminal damage over £5000.

The painting, by artist Ralph Heimans, had been on display in the Chapter House for a few weeks before it was vandalised.
